Prayer request

Tomorrow at 9:30 Cooper is scheduled for an upper GI and bloodwork to help determine the extent of possible food allergies.

Todd and I will be traveling to St.Mary's Children's hospital in West Palm.

For his upper GI he will need to drink barium from a bottle and therefore "skip a feeding" in order to be really hungry.

IF I'm reading the scrip right, the bloodwork (about 5 cc's worth) will screen his CBC, CMP, ESR, CRP, Total Ig E, food allergy (rice, oats, milk, soy), amino acids, and celiac panel. I have purposely NOT googled some of the above abbreviations because I don't want to add worry where unnecessary!

Please pray for our safe travel, no complications, ease of procedures, least pain for our Cooperson, and strength for Todd and I.

Thanks!

7 months old

You are closer to one than to being born...how can that be?

Sleeping- who needs sleep?
Cooper sometimes sleeps from 7:30 pm to 5:30 am (work days, when I have to wake him up) or 6:30 am (school days, when I have to wake him up).   There have been many nights, this past month, when he woke up.  Sometimes he woke up 3:00 am, sometimes 3:45 am, sometimes 4:00 am sometimes ALL three times!  I've let him cry it out, I've given him Tylenol, I've moved him into the pack-n-play in our closet, I've tried to hold him.  Nothing has consistently worked but everything has worked at least once!  We'll get through it.  Naps?  Who needs those either?  At Ms. Patti's he is more consistent but his naps are still pretty short (30 to 45 min). He did start sleeping on his stomach/side.  I don't mind the side but it still sometimes freaks me out when I found him on his stomach, face down, with what seems like just on nostril getting air!  One night we tried to roll him off his stomach and he had a fit!
(Sleeping at Ms. Patti's in Katherine's crib)
Eating- now that is one thing that hasn't changed ONE BIT(E)!
We are still giving him Zantac (1.2 ml) twice a day.  He eats 6+ oz at 5:30/6:30, 9:00, 1:00, 5:00, and 7:30.

I have given him oatmeal cereal a couple of times (plain, mixed with formula, mixed with pears, mixed with applesauce) and he acts very interested but rarely eats more than 5 or 6 bites.  Once, this past month, the church nursery called me in early because everyone else was eating and he 'seemed' hungry even though he had just eaten minutes before.  I have let him gnaw on a  pizza crust and slice of apple which he thoroughly enjoyed until he started getting actual pieces off!  Our appointment with the pediatric gastroenterologist is this month.  I have been tempted to try the rice cereal just once more to see if anything has changed.

Play
He is all over the place! And he isn't even crawling.  He has gotten much more coordinated in his walker - watch your toes!  And even when holding him he is pushing away, turning around, leaning over, grabbing things.  He still rolls around, scooches on his belly, gotten up on his knees (rocky rocky) and even pushed up on his feet (picture below)He has almost mastered sitting up without "baby down" AND master sitting up from his stomach.

Other Stuff

  • He is still in size 3 diapers
  • Mostly 12 month clothing.
  • His spitting up has decreased tremendously.  I can almost go without a burp cloth/bib 24/7.
  • He still has a clogged tear duct in his left eye. I asked the pediatrician if I should be worried and she said not yet...it can take up to a year to correct itself.
  • He has started to reach up when you go to pick him up.
  • We are still using sign language for eat and all done.  He vocally reacts to the signs but doesn't do them himself.
  • First Disney trip this month
  • First official cold.  Ryland gave him a hug one day and said "Listen mom, he's snoring (congestion)".  We ended up using the nebulizer a couple of time, vaporizer and vics rub.

School time

Jayden's recent benchmark testing.
So proud of his learning and gains!
Thankful for a teacher (and school) who facilitate his innate learning ability!
He has always been able to articulate his feelings well.
I thought it was interesting that warm equaled fast and cool equaled walk for him.
