This & That Thursday

  • Definitely not the safest way to get the cheez-its down.  And definitely not sending him mixed messages by telling him that that's not safe WHILE taking his picture.  Nope...not me...I would never do that!

  • I go back to work NEXT Monday.  My coworkers mom is going to watch Cooper (she already watches her two grandkids; 3yo and 6 months).  I'm excited to go back, nervous to go back, don't want to go back, thankful I have a job to go back to, grateful I get to spend my off days with Cooper, can't believe I am already going back!
  • 7 baseball practices/games down.  Only 38 more to go!
  •  We're getting a circular driveway and curbing put in.  It will be so nice to not have to move vehicles around fit everything in the driveway!
  • Today is early release for Jayden and I am determined to NOT FORGET this time.  So feel free to email me, text me, hire a airplane to write it in the sky to remind me.  Just make sure you do it BEFORE 1:00 est. He has NO SCHOOL today!  Am I ever going to get a handle on this?
  • In 5 short days this little man turns S.E.V.E.N!  How did that happen?

  • We are going to Gainesville this weekend.

First hair cut

Cooper got his first hair cut!
Although cute, he was beginning to look a little eddie munster to me:
After a new snips and clips:
He looks like such a little boy!

Two month check up

At Cooper's two month check up he got 3 shots (1 in each leg and 1 orally).  She increased his Zantac dosage and gave him a clean bill of health!  I had several questions for her this time.  It seems like I have more questions with him (is he making enough eye contact, what is this bump on his head, does this look normal...); I guess because things are different each time.

Cooper at 2 months:
weight: 11.10 lbs (50%)
height: 22 in (18%)
head: 16 in (67%)

Ryland at 2 months:
weight: 10.12 lbs (50%)
height: 22.5 in (50%)
head: 15.5 in (60%)

Jayden at 2 months:
weight: 12.9 lbs
height: 24.5 in
head: 15.5 in

ALL DAY forever now!

Ryland's first day of being at school 'all day' went great.  He was so excited about "staying for lunch and then Ms.Debby's class".  Sunday night as he was getting his nap bag and school supplies ready he asked if I would take a picture of him Monday morning.
He said, in the afternoon class, his friend told him the rules and where to put his lunch box.  He had fun and even took a nap!  When I picked him up at 3:30 he animatedly told me he gets "to go all day forever now"!  Yes Ryland real life has begun.  I am so thankful he is so excited about staying.

This & That Thursday

  • My idea, mom's hard work:

  • Jayden started Coach's pitch baseball.  Games/practices are on Mon, Wed, & Sat
  • Ryland started Tball.  Games/practices are on Tues, Thurs, & Sat.  Hottie is the coach which I guess makes me the team mom!
  • Last Saturday I took my first 'real' outing with the 3 boys.  We went to my friend, Jaime's sons first birthday party and then over to my friend Shannon's house.  It was the first time for either of them to meet Cooper and I took NO pictures.  None.  Zip. Zero. Zilch! Must work on that...
  • I found this haircut on Pinterest and loved it so much I had mine cut like it! (My picture was before I washed it and styled it on my own. I like it even better now!)

School Time

Last week, Jayden asked me to come in and have lunch with him so that I could see his frog.
He was very proud of his space book.
Jayden's spelling word sentences for the week.
And you wonder how teachers know everything about their students!
My parenting fail #1063: Last Friday I got a call at 3:00 from school that it had been early release (they are let out at 1:00) and I had forgotten to get Jayden!  I can't believe it!  I was home not running errands or anything!  My only excuse is that it wasn't on my calendar.  Anyway, Jayden took it ok he said that he had been drawing during car loop and looked up to see the last car and wondered "Where is my mom?".  They ushered him (and about 30 other kids into an afterschool room).  He has been asking when he could go to after care but this wasn't what he had in mind!  Best/worst $25 dollars I've ever spent on childcare!  All aboard on the express train to GUILTville!

8 weeks old

Eating - He eats every 4 hours during the day (8:00, 12:00, 4:00, 8:00) and twice during the night (1:00ish & 5:00ish). At 7 weeks he started taking Zantac, no more Mylicon,  because he started showing signs of acid reflux (gagging, arching, restlessness after eating).  It has made a huge difference.  He seems so much more settled. He has taken a bottle (pumped milk) a couple of times and has done great!

Sleeping - At night he sleeps in his bassinet from 9:00pm to 8:00am.  During the day, his naps are in his carseat, crib, or swing.  He makes it very obvious when he is ready to go to sleep; he doesn't want to be held and at times, doesn't even want his passie.  As soon as he starts sleeping for longer than 6 hours at night, we will move him into his crib.
No more swaddling!  Although I LOVED the benefit of swaddling (longer stretches of sleep - no hair pulling, nose bopping, or startling) he was getting so frustrated and would work, and work, and work until he got his arms out!
Next week Ryland starts going to school all day and I am planning on getting Cooper on a much more scheduled eat/play/nap routine.  Since I go back to work October 3rd I want to give him (and me) a chance to adjust to a 'normal' schedule.
Recognize the blanket Linda C.?

Other stuff
  • He smiles a lot now and "talks" to himself. You can definitely tell when he gets a clear vision of you - his eyes register complete acknowledgment!
  • Hottie swears he only poops in clean diapers!
  • He doesn't always wake up in the best moods.  A little screaming and then poof he is all smiles!
  • Everyone says he looks like me!
  • He hasn't lost much of his hair and more seems to be growing in.  I haven't shaved it...yet.
  • He is out of his newborn clothes and almost getting too long for his 0-3 mths stuff.  I can't wait until he "fills out" more.  I love me some chubs!

One of my favorite moments with Ry and Cooper is when Ryland tells me "He's OK mom, he's ok".

One of my favorite moments with Jayden and Cooper is when Jayden consoles Cooper and says "Alright, Buddy.  It's alright buddy".
