1...2...3...ready or not here I come!
Ryland LOVES to "count" for hide-n-seek.

"Eeeeee....aaaaaa.....iiiiii"

Ready or not, here I come...

Look who I found in the outside toy box!

And then it's always fun to "hide" too!

Jayden's check-up
So I missed Jayden's 4 year check-up back in ummm....October! Actually I didn't even know he needed one until his preschool was asking for updated physical and shot forms. So, the ever diligent parent that I am, scheduled an appointment (otherwise he wouldn't be allowed at school anymore). I asked if any shots were required and since none were I was fine with it. {clearing throat} Since this is really all about me!
So as with typical check-ups they weighed him (40 pounds), measured his height (42 inches), gave him a hearing test (he passed it with flying colors even though he seems to have a hereditary ability to have selective hearing), and a eye exam.
Although they have the typical lettered eye chart they also have a kindergarten (shape) chart. Jayden put his hand over one eye "like a pirate" and as she pointed to the different shapes I was tickled with some of his answers.

He had no trouble with the boat, hearts, stars, and cup. The pluses were X's, the moon was a crescent, the flag was bars, and the o was an a O "not a circle cause they only have one line". Then he pointed to the french fries. See them? No? Sixth row down. Still No? Next to the O and star. Really? Ohhh...you mean YOU see a hand? Clearly you haven't been to McDonald's nearly enough!
So proud! ;-)

In loving memory of

Francis Walter Soich, Jr.
"Bub"
April 7, 1943-January 2, 1989
"Bub"
April 7, 1943-January 2, 1989
Todd was only 14 at the time his father passed away. He died in the early morning from a massive heart attack, while at home, with Sheila (his wife/Todd's mom) and Todd.
I obviously never got the opportunity to meet "Bub", but I periodically ask Todd about him. He always radiates the undenying pride he had for his father. Todd talks about how he loved to go to work with his Dad and what a hard working man he was (sometimes working more than one job at a time to help make ends meet). He remembers his parents having lunch together during the work day and spending time as a family. He speaks with such a wistful remembrance, a 14 year old stuck in time, of honor and respect for his dad.

Ryland was born on Bub's birthday and carries the middle name of Francis.

One of the last pictures taken at his work Christmas party 1988.

Todd and me at his grave site on our wedding day.

On this 20th year anniversary of his death I want to recognize the man that made Todd the man he is today; an amazing husband, loving father, dependable friend, hard working man, and faithful son. I know he is so proud of you Todd!
